WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

BONNIE POON / CEO / FOUNDER

The fashion manufacturing industry was an undeniably woven into Bonnie Poon’s destiny. With family-owned garment manufacturing plants in NYC and China, the ‘career’ dye had been cast before she was born. But the industry path she chose was anything but ordinary, or easy some might argue.

By 2005, she was working the factory floors in Hong Kong and China to identify more environmentally friendly and sustainable ways to manufacture clothing. Her goal was to create new best practices and incorporate them into a business model that supported young designers with limited in-house and production resources.

In 2014, Bonnie established Golden Times Group Limited (GTG). It’s a company built on her core beliefs of social responsibility and supporting young brands. GTG works alongside their clients to create and develop innovative solutions to streamline development, production and supply chains, while enhancing quality control and wastage reduction.

GTG is always responsible for the wellbeing of their factory workers by aligning with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (no. 8, 9 & 12) that include the following measures: Providing a true living wage (not the mandatory government minimum) // Hiring & housing family members together (China’s factory work force comprises mostly migrant workers who are separated from their children and families) // Support senior management workers by covering the cost to bring their children to Shenzhen during the summer holiday break.

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

Bonnie and her clients continue to review the production processes to manufacture clothing with a lighter carbon foot print by:

// Developing an on-demand fashion process that only produces an item when an order is placed and reduces inventory which contributes to 10% of carbon emissions. // Recycling fabric and trim wastage. // Moving away from traditional plastic based packaging.
